Our family participated in the Light the Night Walk, to raise awareness for cancer. My life has been personally touched by the effects of this disease. People I love, whom hold parts of my heart; have fought this battle, are continuing to fight this battle, and some have lost.
The red balloons were for our support, the white balloons where for those still fighting and those that have succeeded, the gold balloons were for those whom we fondly remember. Our family walked with all three.
Inside each of the balloons were lights, so as the night crept on, the down town of Boise was glowing. There were cheers and well wishers, there were tears of courage and some of fear. But this night, a light was shining.
There was a light for my mom, my aunt, a grandmother, a grandfather, a friend, many patient's of mine, and an 11 year old boy (who won his battle, his momma was one of my nursing intructors).
We continue to be grateful for the survival stories, we continue to be prayerful for the continuing stories, and we will forever be mindful for those whose journeys have surpassed our understanding.
No matter what corner of the world, let your light shine on.......
